Refund & Return Policy

Last Updated: September 2026

At LaFayette Couture, we specialize in unique, designer, rare, and high-value evening gowns. Many of our gowns are hand-beaded, embellished, specially sourced, ordered from designers upon a client’s request, or customized according to an individual client’s specifications.

Because of the nature and value of these products, ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

1. No Returns or Exchanges

LaFayette Couture does not accept returns or exchanges for evening gowns or other merchandise unless otherwise expressly required by applicable law.

All purchases are considered final once the order has been accepted and processed.

We do not offer:

  • Refunds for change of mind;
  • Exchanges for a different size;
  • Exchanges for a different color;
  • Exchanges for a different style;
  • Returns because a gown does not fit as expected;
  • Returns because the customer does not like the color, style, fabric, embellishment, or appearance after purchase;
  • Returns because the customer finds another gown they prefer; or
  • Returns or exchanges due to circumstances unrelated to a product defect covered by applicable law.

2. Stylist Consultation and Size Selection

Because designer evening gowns may use different sizing systems and may fit differently depending on the designer, style, fabric, construction, and individual body proportions, we strongly recommend that every client consult with a LaFayette Couture stylist before purchasing.

Our stylist may assist the client with:

  • Reviewing the designer’s size chart;
  • Taking or reviewing measurements;
  • Selecting the appropriate size;
  • Discussing the expected fit;
  • Discussing the construction and characteristics of the gown;
  • Reviewing available colors and materials; and
  • Discussing possible alterations or customization options.

The client remains responsible for providing accurate measurements and information and for approving the final size selection.

A stylist’s recommendation is intended as professional retail guidance and is not a guarantee of a perfect fit.

3. Client Approval of Size

Before an order is finalized, the client may be asked to confirm the selected size and other specifications.

Once the client has approved the size and the order has been submitted, the order is final and cannot be exchanged or returned because of size or fit.

Clients are encouraged to ask all questions regarding sizing, measurements, fit, construction, and alterations before approving an order.

4. Custom Changes and Customization

For eligible gowns, LaFayette Couture may offer customization options, which may include, depending on the particular designer and gown:

  • Color changes;
  • Fabric changes;
  • Length modifications;
  • Neckline or sleeve modifications;
  • Embellishment changes;
  • Beading or decorative changes;
  • Other designer-approved modifications; or
  • Other special requests agreed upon before production or ordering.

Customization is available only when approved by the applicable designer, manufacturer, or supplier.

Customizations must be approved by the client before they are submitted for production or ordering.

Once the client has approved the customization and the order has been submitted, the order cannot be canceled, returned, exchanged, or refunded because the client changes their mind regarding the approved customization.

5. Custom and Special-Order Gowns

Some gowns are ordered specifically for an individual client and may not be part of our regular inventory.

These may include:

  • Made-to-order gowns;
  • Designer special orders;
  • Gowns ordered specifically in a particular size;
  • Gowns ordered in a requested color;
  • Hand-beaded or hand-embellished gowns;
  • Customized gowns; and
  • Other gowns specially sourced or produced at the client’s request.

Because these products may be specifically acquired or produced for an individual client, all such orders are final once approved and submitted to the designer, manufacturer, or supplier.

6. Hand-Beaded and Hand-Embellished Gowns

Many of our gowns contain hand-applied beads, crystals, sequins, embroidery, appliqués, or other decorative elements.

Because these elements may be applied by hand, minor variations in placement, density, texture, or appearance may naturally occur and are not necessarily considered defects.

Such variations may be inherent characteristics of handcrafted or individually finished garments.

7. Color and Material Approval

Where a client requests a specific color, fabric, embellishment, or customization, the client is responsible for reviewing and approving the available option before the order is submitted.

Color appearance may vary depending on photography, lighting, displays, monitors, and devices.

Once a client has approved a color or customization and the order has been submitted, the client may not cancel, return, or exchange the gown because the color or customization does not meet their later personal preference, except where otherwise required by applicable law.

8. Production and Designer Variations

Designer and manufacturer specifications may occasionally result in minor variations in measurements, construction, embellishment, color, or other characteristics.

Where a gown is handmade, hand-beaded, customized, or individually finished, reasonable variations may occur.

Such characteristics do not automatically constitute a defect.

9. Defective or Incorrect Merchandise

Our no-return/no-exchange policy does not waive rights that cannot legally be waived.

If you believe that a gown was delivered with a significant manufacturing defect, was materially different from the agreed-upon specifications, or was not the item ordered, please contact LaFayette Couture promptly after delivery and provide photographs and a description of the issue.

We will review the situation and determine whether a remedy is required under applicable law or the applicable designer/manufacturer warranty.

Minor variations inherent in handmade, hand-beaded, embellished, or customized garments are not necessarily defects.

10. Alterations

Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, alterations performed after purchase are not included in the purchase price.

Customers are responsible for the cost of alterations performed by an independent tailor or seamstress.

Alterations performed by a third party may affect the appearance, construction, fit, or condition of the gown and may affect any applicable manufacturer or designer warranty.

11. Cancellations

Once an order has been approved and submitted to a designer, manufacturer, or supplier, it cannot be canceled.

For custom, special-order, made-to-order, hand-beaded, or customized gowns, the client’s approval constitutes authorization for LaFayette Couture to proceed with the order. All custom orders must be paid in full in advance before they can be fulfilled.

Any cancellation request must be submitted within 15 minutes of the order being placed and paid for. Submission of a cancellation request does not guarantee that cancellation will be possible.

12. Deposits and Payments for Special Orders

Payment in full is always required for special-order, custom, or made-to-order gowns. The payment may be applied toward the specific gown and any related production or ordering costs.

Once the order has been submitted to the designer, manufacturer, or supplier, the payment is generally non-refundable.

Any product-specific payment terms presented to the customer before purchase may also apply.

13. Shipping Damage or Loss

Shipping is handled by independent third-party carriers.

Once the gown has been accepted by the selected carrier, transportation and delivery are subject to the carrier’s terms and conditions.

Please refer to our Shipping Policy for information regarding carrier selection, shipping delays, lost packages, damaged packages, tracking, and shipping claims.

14. Customer Responsibility Before Purchase

Because our gowns may be rare, high-value, hand-beaded, customized, or specially ordered, customers are encouraged to review all available information before completing their purchase.

Before placing an order, customers should confirm:

  • Size;
  • Measurements;
  • Color;
  • Style;
  • Designer;
  • Customization;
  • Expected fit;
  • Delivery considerations; and
  • Any other specifications important to the purchase.

Our team is available to assist with these questions before the order is finalized.

15. Final Sale Acknowledgment

By completing a purchase from LaFayette Couture, the customer acknowledges that:

ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

The customer acknowledges that they have had the opportunity to review the product information, sizing information, applicable designer specifications, customization options, and this Refund & Return Policy before completing the purchase.

The customer also acknowledges that LaFayette Couture recommends consulting with a stylist before selecting the size and finalizing the order.

16. Changes to This Policy

LaFayette Couture may update this Refund & Return Policy from time to time.

The version posted on our website at the time of purchase will generally apply to that purchase, subject to applicable law.
